Reliable Racing head on ski board

John Jacobs, president of Reliable Racing Supply Inc. of Queensbury, has been elected to the National Ski Area Association board of directors for a three-year term.

Jacobs began his career in the ski industry at age 15 working at the Inside Edge, the family business founded by national ski Hall of Famer Tom Jacobs and his wife, Marilyn. He was a nationally ranked junior alpine racer at West Mountain Ski Resort and attended Middlebury College as an NCAA All-American. After college, Jacobs worked as a sales representative for Reliable Racing Supply (Inside Edge’s parent company) while racing on the World Pro Ski Tour. Upon joining the company full time in 1981, he spearheaded the development of several core product lines, most notably the Break-A-Way slalom pole.

Jacobs and his wife, Susan, remain active in the local ski racing community at West Mountain. He serves on the board of directors for Ski Areas of NY (SANY) and the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association, as well as on a number of United States Ski and Snowboard Association working groups.

Jacobs and his wife have a daughter, Jena, and son, Jake.
